Rhenium (Re)
Rhenium is a high-density refractory metal known for its exceptional performance in extreme environments. With a melting point of 3,180°C and one of the highest elastic moduli among refractory metals (420 GPa), it delivers outstanding strength and stability at elevated temperatures.
Rhenium and rhenium-based alloys are valued for their:
- High melting points
- Excellent mechanical strength at high temperatures
- Resistance to thermal fatigue and cycling
Common alloys include molybdenum-rhenium compositions such as Mo-41%Re and Mo-47.5%Re.
Discovered in 1925 by Ida and Walter Noddack, rhenium is one of the last naturally occurring elements to be identified. Its unique properties make it ideal for demanding applications where reliability under extreme conditions is critical.

Rhenium Products

Rhenium Powder
Rhenium Alloys supplies high-purity rhenium powders used in the production of critical components for aerospace, defense, energy, and electronics industries.
We supply three standard powders:
- Pure rhenium powder
- Molybdenum-rhenium alloy powder
- Tungsten-rhenium alloy powder
Rhenium Powder is available with a choice of purity grades, 99.99% and 99.9% pure. Mesh sizes include -200, -325 and -635 mesh. Custom sizes available on request.
Rhenium Pellets (Melting Stock)
We convert ammonium perrhenate and other rhenium-bearing materials into high-purity pellets. Rhenium pellets are offered in two purity grades, 99.99% and 99.9% pure on a metals basis, and can be tailored to meet any specification.
Applications include:
- Alloying in nickel-based superalloys for turbine engines
- Use in chemical vapor deposition (CVD) systems
Rhenium Ammonium Perrhenate (APR)
Our advanced processing capabilities allow us to produce high-purity ammonium perrhenate, as well as convert it into powder, pellets, or perrhenic acid.
We deliver consistent quality and purity to meet exacting industry standards.
Rhenium Sheet, Plate, and Foil
We manufacture rhenium and molybdenum-rhenium products in a variety of flat forms, including plate, sheet, foil, and ribbon.
We provide materials engineered for:
- Extreme temperatures
- Harsh operating environments
- High-performance applications
Rhenium Wire Products
Our rhenium wire products are designed for demanding applications such as thermocouples, electronics, and high-temperature furnace components.
Key features:
- 99.99% purity
- High strength and ductility
- Wide range of sizes (down to 0.008")
We also offer:
- Molybdenum-rhenium wire
- Tungsten-rhenium wire
- Tungsten wire
Rhenium Flat Wire
As one of the few producers in the Americas offering this capability, we manufacture precision flat wire in multiple forms:
Types:
- Rolled (as thin as .004" with a standard tolerance of .0004")
- Drawn
- Etched
Secondary operations:
- Etching
- Ultrasonic cleaning
Rhenium Rod, Ribbon, and Bar
We produce high-purity rhenium in multiple structural forms:
Rod (99.99% pure):
Designed for aerospace and high-stress applications requiring excellent ductility and thermal shock resistance.
Ribbon:
Available in commercial (99.99%) and zone-refined (99.995%) grades for electronics and analytical applications.
Bar:
Manufactured from raw APR and processed to precise dimensions, including ultra-thin rolled forms. A Rhenium Bar can be rolled down to as low as .001" in thickness, and widths that can range up to 7" wide.
