Rhenium Alloys delivers a comprehensive range of industrial metal processing services, supported by decades of expertise and advanced equipment. Our capabilities include cold isostatic pressing, heat treating (annealing and sintering), swaging, drawing, mechanical properties testing, straightening and flattening, centerless grinding, rolling, and engraving.

Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP)

We provide cold isostatic pressing to compact metal powders into uniform, high-integrity “green” parts for further processing such as rolling, machining, or sintering. This method uses hydrostatic pressure to ensure consistent density, reduced mechanical stress, and improved material properties.

Our capabilities include programmable pressure distribution, precise process control, and enhanced mechanical performance of finished parts.

Machinery:
Two high-pressure Cold Isostatic Presses (CIP) units:

  • 10” ID × 24” deep
  • 4” ID × 22” deep
    Both capable of pressures up to 60,000 psi.

 

Heat Treating (Annealing & Sintering)

Rhenium Alloys offers heat treating services for refractory metals in controlled hydrogen atmospheres. This ensures optimal material performance and consistency. Our processes support a wide temperature range and can be tailored to specific part geometries and requirements.

Machinery:

  • Muffle furnaces and precision laboratory furnaces
  • Temperature range: 760°C to 2450°C
  • Data logging and programmable ramp cycles
  • Controlled and calibrated using Ircon 5 pyrometers for precise monitoring

Straightening and Flattening

We perform straightening and flattening for sheet, foil, wire, rod, and tubing to meet precise flatness and straightness requirements. Processes are available at both room and elevated temperatures, depending on material and application.

Centerless Grinding

We provide centerless grinding services to achieve tight tolerances and fine surface finishes on rods and tubing. Every aspect is tailored to part dimensions and customer specifications.

Large Bar Sheet Press

Sheet – Rolling

We offer both cold and hot rolling (up to 1650°C) services for plate, sheet, and foil. This allows us to deliver precise thickness and width to meet customer requirements.

Wire, Rod & Tubing

Swaging

We provide rotary swaging services to reduce diameters and refine material structure for rods and tubes. Our capabilities cover both cold and hot swaging processes, enabling precise dimensional control and improved mechanical properties.

With over 60 years of experience, we have developed specialized processes for Ruthenium, Nickel-based super alloys, and other refractory metals. Furthermore, we support a wide range of diameters and can engineer custom dies for unique requirements.

Machinery:

  • 15 different swagers (4-die and 2-die configurations)
  • Capable of processing from room temperature up to 1650°C
  • Diameter range: approximately 2” down to 0.060” (expandable with custom tooling)
  • Systems include induction, continuous feed, and natural gas configurations

Drawing

We offer precision drawing services for wire, rod, and tubing, operating at both room and elevated temperatures. Our processes support significant area reductions and tight dimensional control across a wide range of diameters. Additionally, we provide mechanical property testing to ensure products meet exact performance specifications.

Machinery:

    • Caterpillar draw bench (heavy reductions >45%, up to 1350°C, .050–.250”)
    • Bull block (single-draft reductions up to 1100°C, .030–.080”)
    • Side-wheel drawing (400°C–1000°C, .020–.080”)
    • Multi-die fine wire machines (5- and 10-die, down to .0015”)

Laser Engraving & Marking

We provide permanent marking and engraving for part identification and traceability. Our laser engraving capabilities support a wide range of materials, including metals and industrial polymers, with high precision and repeatability.

This service enables long-term product identification and supports quality assurance and traceability requirements.
